Illinois's DEMOCRATIC "CULTURE of CORRUPTION"

Here in the Great State of Illinois, we've got some really juicy stuff going on. We're finding out again just how close Mayor Daley and Gov. Blagojevich really are. It seems they went to the same school. They have lists of names of people who are going to get a job. Nothing political ofcourse.

Chicago's story is an old one. It's been going on for years and years. Mayor Daley never knows anything about anything. The whole rest of the city and county know whats going on. You only hire people who are on the "Jobs List". (In all honesty, the city people used Index cards). Forget about "qualifications". Last year, the City tried to hire 2 nineteen year olds to be City Building Insectors. Their fathers were Union Leaders tho, so I can only guess that their kids had vast experience despite their youth. Then, when the story broke, we got deluged with the usual "I don't know's", "We're going to get to the bottom of this", Etc. Finally after about a week City hall DISCOVERED that they weren't really qualified, and were let go. More on Chicago's "Culture of Corruption" later. The trials of underlings is going on right now and they're ALL trying to get less jail time, so I'll have to update.

Next, Gov. Blagojevich. He tried to lay the blame on the previous adninistration's hiring practices. It only took them 3 years to discover what was happening. The Governor's press secretary said that the practice stopped long ago. The very next day, the Tribune reported that the Federal Investigators said the practice stopped 2 Days AFTER they learned about the FEDERAL INVESTIGATION going on.

The Gov. is pretty tight-lipped right now so, I can see I'm going to have to cover each of Illinois's "CULTURE of CORRUPTION" cases seperately. I like that name for it. Thankx Nance, Harry.
